Apple Guide is Apple's award-winning, context-sensitive, interactive help system. It consists of an OS-level resource engine and content files in database format. The user can invoke Apple Guide content in several ways including choosing an item from an application's help menu, and clicking a help button in a dialog box. When invoked, the help system assesses application and system status, and provides help content based on user queries such as "How do I adjust the sound volume?" The system then presents an on-the-fly series of task panels from the database. If the user does not complete a step, Apple Guide provides remediation and completes the step for the user, if appropriate. I developed databases for several products including the Mac OS, Final Cut Pro and SimpleText.
